a fully developed character whose background is revealed and whose personality traits, both good and bad, are shown
flat character
possesses only one or two personality traits and little, if any, background information is revealed
dynamic character
a character who changes and develops in the course of the story
character
person or animal who takes part in the action of literary work
biography
form of nonfiction in which the writer tells the life story of another person
autobiography
form of nonfiction in which a person tells his or her own life story
anthropomorphism
where animals or inanimate objects are portrayed in a story as people; they have given human emotions and capabilities or may be walking, talking or given arms, legs, facial features, human locomotion or other anthropoid form. (this technique is often incorrectly call personification)
antagonist
a character or force in conflict with the main character (protagonist)
allegory
a story or narrative in which a moral principle or abstract truth is presented by means of fictional characters and events
