Design I (symmetry)

loading
Axis
Implied center of division (ex. rotation, direction).
Center line of vision
Vertical line that divides an image in half equally.
Asymmetry
Balance achieved through dissimilar objects with equal visual weight or eye attraction without the use of an axis.
Approximate symmetry
Use of similar imagery on either side of a central-line axis. Objects are close to each other, but not exactly the same, creating a back and forth visual relationship.
Translation
Type of symmetry created by gliding or sliding two superimposed images around each other to create an identical relationship.
Reflection
Type of symmetry created by imagining an image reflected in a mirror to see how it might be different.
Rotation
Type of symmetry created by rotating an object to create the same object, only in a different position.
Symmetry
Mirrored reflection on either side of a central-line axis. Type of balance that involves two sides looking identical to each other.
