Running Fence
Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Bulgarian/French, 1972-1976, Earth Art. Fence of fabric run across the California farmlands. Farmers took offense to -- thought they were being mocked, but were really trying to respect them. Took years to build but was only kept up for 2 weeks -- artists feel that transience creates the attention it deserves.
