Shows people enjoying leisure time, in response to French government allotting regular work times so that people could enjoy time off in the city. Figures are members of the Parisian art community. Nocturne in Black and Gold: The Falling Rocket James Abbott McNeill Whistler, American, 1875, Impressionism. Nocturne means "night scene." Without the title, the subject would probably be indecipherable. Whistler considered his works to be "visual music." The viewer is put in an uncomfortable position, questioning their morality. References Venus of Urbino by Titian.
